the artist behind

Hi! I'm Nicole!

Thank you for being here and trusting me with your business & brand!

I’ve always been a bit of a “Jill of all trades” (and yes, I proudly stand by the rest of that phrase: “. . . master of none, but oftentimes better than master of one”). Shoutout to my fellow neurospicy squirrels and feral raccoons who understand exactly what that means.

The “deep” in Deep Thought Design Co. comes from two places:  my lifelong tendency to overthink 😅, and the lived experiences we all have of moving through life, trauma, and growth. I’ve learned a lot through education and treatment, but also through lived experience and I try to bring that depth into everything I create and everyone I am privileged to interact with.

Work with Deep Thought Design Co.

Art and design have been self-taught passions for me, but I've added to that with a foundation of education (BA in Education Studies and minor Educational Psychology). I'd have to say, it's really the lived experiences and great resources in therapy that keep me grounded in learning, critical thinking, and applying knowledge to life and work. As for the photography side of thing, my husband Robb has been my biggest supporter and teacher in photography and I wouldn’t be where I am behind the lens without him (make sure to check out our photography business (www.shuttermeshort.com).

Check me out feeling all kinds of proud seeing my logo printed on a sign out front of a brand-new facility under construction! Can’t wait to see it up on the building when it’s finished 🙌

I grew up on 90 acres near Mt. St. Helens after the eruption, which taught me how to thrive in small, tight-knit communities. That’s part of why Bishop, CA feels so much like home now. The people, the land, and the sense of connection. I also honor that this place we now call home is Native land. Payahuunadu, “the land where water flows,” the homeland of the Nuumu (Paiute) people.

At the heart of all of this is a simple truth, I am deeply honored to be able to do art within this community with incredible clients & friends. Thank you for being here, supporting my work, and trusting me to bring your vision to life.

Now let's make something incredible together!

Outside of design, you’ll often find me cuddling with our pets, reading fantasy novels, and working at our local radio stations as DJ Deep Thought (stream at mammothfm.com). Robb and I also share a love for automotive culture and previously owned and ran Shorty’s Speed Shop in Bishop. The automotive world was inspiration for our pet's names Torque and Enzo. Our dog, Horton, is named after the local lake where Robb and I got engaged (a little nod to one of our favorite local places).
